The rocky construct of national morality -- of standard operating mores and human decency -- is in pressing danger of implosion.

Standing on the impending canyon rim, what happened before and before that (critical history) seemed relative until the bawdy onslaught of spandex-tight real time.

Nationalism had definition -- however deformed and dubious -- before this touchscreen time of pop culture travesties to thumb up.

Before a proper pandemic turned genocidal, and super PACs doused corporate "hard times" with Fritos-orange fairy dust to sustain Shangri-La capitalism, patriotism seemed . . . well, patriotic.
